| First Lets Define some Terms. |
| Virus: A malicious program that is designed to damage files on your pc then spread. |
| There are a few types of viruses. |
| Trojan: |
| Hides in an attachemnt, or file, then when its unexpected, it jumps and attacks. |

| Worm: |
| This virus burrows through your system, doing small damage and other annoyances. |

Spyware: These are put on your PC to spy on you, annoy you with popups, and more. They aren't really intended to Damage your PC, but they can slow it down and hinder it extremely. In some cases they do conflict with other programs/softwares.
Mostly they are a neuisance and a pain in the rear. |

| Most of the time, the User is the one that actually installed the spyware, not knowingly of course. |
| Be cautious when installing FREE programs, or Peer Network sharing programs like Kazza. These tend to have common spyware programs bundled with them, hence making it free. But not all Free stuff has this. Make sure You Read the Terms & Policies before installing! |

| Common Spyware programs are: |
| GATOR, GAIN, Weather Bug, etc. |

| Preventing Viruses. |
| Most people use Norton Antivirus and McAffee, and they pay for it! |
| However most of the people that I have helped with viruses, are the ones using those programs! Go Figure. |

| Most Newer Machines with WinXP have a built in Standard Fire Wall. |
| However, it is not 100% reliable. |
